Lissie

Een nieuwe naam met ongemeen interessante referenties. Lissie Maurus krijgt in januari 2008 het nieuwjaarscadeau van haar leven. Ze mag opwarmen voor Lenny Kravitz tijdens diens 'Love Revolution Tour'. Zomaar, vanuit het niets. Een wederzijdse kennis had Kravitz de MySpace-pagina van de singer-songwriter getipt. En hij bleek meteen gewonnen voor haar potige folkrock. De eerste EP van Lissie wordt geproduceerd door een van de leden van Band Of Horses en verschijnt op Fat Possum (Solomon Burke, The Black Keys). Alweer goede punten. Ray Lamontagne neemt haar vervolgens mee op tournee en ze excelleert op SXSW (South By Southwest) in Austin, Texas. Lissie speelt maar liefst 10 keer - dat is elke dag - tijdens dat 'ontdekkingsfestival'. De ontvangst voor haar debuut 'Catching a Tiger' (2010) is unaniem lovend aan beide kanten van de Atlantische Oceaan. Ze wordt vergeleken met fijnste namen uit het verleden (Edie Brickell, Stevie Nicks) en het heden (Sheryl Crow, Amy MacDonald). En natuurlijk is ze ook nog eens jong en mooi en heeft ze de juiste vrienden. Some girls... (Rock Werchter 2011)
