Kaiser Chiefs
Hoog, hoger, hoogst. Het blitse karakter van de carrière van Kaiser Chiefs valt af te lezen aan de erelijst van Rock Werchter. Hun 4 Op Een Rij - 2006, 2007, 2008 en 2009 - staat in hoofdletters in het Gouden Boek van het festival. Niemand die hen dat heeft voorgedaan. Het had zelfs nog straffer kunnen zijn. In 2005 liet het vijftal op het laatste moment verstek gaan wegens Live Aid. Opmerkelijk: Kaiser Chiefs debuteren in 2006 meteen op de Main Stage en zijn op dat moment amper drie jaar oud. Onder die naam dan toch. Voor 2003 spelen ze garagerock als Prava. Ze herdopen zich naar het Zuid-Afrikaanse voetbalteam Kaizer (met een z) Chiefs. Dat was de eerste club van Lucas Radebe. Hun favoriete speler aller tijden van hun favoriete Leeds United. De eerste single 'Oh My God' (2004) is meteen raak, de rest is bekend van radio en televisie. Na een verdiend en hoognodig sabbatjaar laten ze weten dat het hard jeukt. Dat klinkt veelbelovend: de keizers van de betere meezinger zijn ook de heersers van het podium. (Rock Werchter 2011)
