Jenny and Johnny
Een nieuwe naam waarachter een oude bekende schuil gaat. Jenny is Jenny Lewis die in 2005 op Werchter stond met Rilo Kiley. De Amerikaanse indierockers zijn goed bevriend en sterk verwant met Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie en M. Ward. De actuele status van Rilo Kiley is wat onduidelijk. Het laatste album dateert al uit 2007 en Lewis heeft sindsdien twee sterke soloalbums afgeleverd. De Schots-Amerikaanse troubadour Jonathan Rice doet mee op allebei en houdt er haar hart aan over. Twee jaar lang maken de tortelduiven intensief muziek. 'I'm Having Fun Now' (2010) van Jenny and Johnny is het alleszeggende resultaat. Het is een zonnig album waarop ze het beste in elkaar naar boven halen. Zij tilt hem op van een straffe begeleider - Rice speelde recentelijk nog bij Elvis Costello en die is uiterst kieskeurig - tot een frontman. Hij geeft haar stem de juiste steunkleur. Denk aan de beste momenten van The Lemonheads en R.E.M., met wat countryrock als extra pigment. (Rock Werchter 2011)
